Sumpdronten á la Schwennske Orienten
The third track on "Retrograd" is "Sumpdronten á la Schwennske Orienten." This composition is set in 3/4 time in D minor with a tempo of approximately 80 BPM, featuring the violin and clarinet mostly playing in unison.
The piece combines a Nordic polska vibe with a slightly oriental influence, creating a musical portrait of the mythical creature Sumpdronten. As the title reflects, this Is the version from the Swedish Orient.
"Sumpdronten" was regularly included in our setlists during the early years and was also recorded on our first EP. However, after Aske joined the band in 2006, we performed it less frequently. Our focus shifted to new material from the second album, "Akrobakkus," and our busy concert schedule limited opportunities to revisit this track.

Liner notes:
"Sumpdronten is a horrible monster living in Sahel in the northern part of the Sahara. It eats everything (including rocks, vegetation, and pretty much everything else) except for sand. This is actually the reason why the Sahara grows day by day."
